Occasionally I am getting some random lines in Painter 2021. This looks like the same issue I was having with Painter 2020, just much less frequent.
Never mind. It started working after restarting Painter.
This entry was in error. I still have the random lines occasionally.
What do they look like, Artifex? Are you using a Wacom, if so, which model?
I am using a Cintiq Pro 24. It didn't actually seem to matter what was selected to get the effect. In fact, the eraser did it quite often too. It happens with the Pro Pen and Pro pen 2. It didn't seem to happen with the Art Pen.
Other Graphics programs do not exhibit this behavior.
I am told by Coirel hat this is a known problem, however, there isn't any idea when or if it will be resolved. Right now I don't see it on my other Wacom Pen Computer or my older tablet.
I am using an Alienware with 6 cores, Optane Memory, and 64 GB of Ram. I did try disabliing the Optane to see if that was involved..

Paul Fish
Thanks Paul...what Wacom driver are you using?
I am using the current driver on both my Cintiq Pro 24 and My Mobile Studio Pro 16
WacomTablet_6.3.20-2 I've gone back as far as WacomTablet_6.3.31-4 but there seems to be a limit to how useful this might be since the driver updates sometimes are needed for new versions of Windows, of which there has been a recent flurry of updates.
The Mobile studio pro doesn't exhibit the problem. It seems that only the more powerful computer has issues. This may actually be a property of the speed of the computer. As an engineer I have seen problems with real-tiime inputs mis-behaving because the hardware has become too fast for the way the input is processed...just sayin'...
