Hello! My mac updated today, unfortunately to Mac OS 10.15.7 (Catalina) and when I went to restart Painter 2021 and check my preferences, the GPU section to accelerate performance was greyed out. You have to understand I have an external GPU to handle these heavy programs. I had Painter re-run the Brush Accelerator test and went from a 3000+ to a 1200 since the time of the update. Nothing else on my machine has changed. I'm not new to Painter by any means.
Any thoughts? I absolutely need Painter to use the external GPU!
Help!Thank you, Heather
Hello, P21 is supported on Catalina 10.15.7 and there was no change that should lead to this issue. Prior to update to 10.15.7, did you import any workspace? Please restart the application holding shift, and rest your workspaceRe-launch the Brush Accelerator test againLet me know if the issue is gone or not. Thank you,Oumhani
Hi Oumhani, Thank you for the quick reply! I haven't tried it from the default workspace and will that. I haven't imported any new workspaces since the computer update (I just left whatever was currently loaded in Painter prior to the update). I was probably in one of those custom workspaces.
Will report back...
I just wanted to give an update. I did two things. I hadn't realized how bulky my textures library had become (over 1.5 gigs) so I dumped most of it, and honestly could clean out more. And after backing up my custom brushes, and library, workspace, shut down and restarted holding shift to reset the workspace. The option to use the external GPU finally came up and now i'm back in the 3000s. Thank you! - Heather
Glad to see that resolved. Thanks for the update.Oumhani
