Can't switch tools without waiting for a few seconds. 16GB RAM, R7 M370 Radeon, i7-6820hq. How to run Corel Painter 2021 better? Tried enhanced ghost, allocation of RAM, etc
Quick thought: Under Preferences > Performance, is "Use Memory (RAM) to cache application UI" enabled? Note that an imported workspace from an earlier version could cause this to not work as expected.
I believe it is. And I haven't messed with the workspace yet.
Hmm...on my system, which is an older Intel i5 desktop, with a Radeon 570 and 10gb ram, it's pretty snappy to swtich from the Real 2B pencil to the Eraser tool. There is a small, maybe 0.5s pause in that scenario, but it's manageable.
But it can vary from brush to brush...for example, a stamp-type brush with a lot of expressiveness (i.e. captured dab with size/angle expressions) can take longer to swtich. Could that be a part of it?
Otherwise I'm not sure...maybe a few others on the forums here can comment...
Any brushes have the same time it takes.
Hmm...it's always hard to tell over the internet...but when it comes to the performance of brush switching, 'a few seconds' on your system sounds like a lot longer than the 'half-second' on my theoretically slower system...so let's continue to assume we have a solvable issue here...I'll try a few more things but I'll admit it's tricky as I don't have a lot of info/grasping at straws here...2 more ideas to hopefully better understand:
a) Have you run the brush accelerator? If not, try that, curous if that changes anything
b) How are you switching? Is it by flipping your stylus between pen/eraser, or by clicking the buttons on the toolbox (i.e. brush tool (b) then eraser tool (n)...or some other way?
c) I know this might sound kinda obvious...but have you rebooted your system recently? I've seen many examples over the years where a reboot helps...especially if there are updates to video card drivers, etc...always seems to work better and it's a (hopefully) fairly easy thing to try
I have done brush accelerator. I use shortcut keys to switch, B for brush and N for eraser. Tried switch to previous variant, same result. Maybe it was half a second. I am bad at time lol
I already updated my gpu drivers and resetted and rolled back even. All didn't work.
