I have Painter 2022 and a number of other Corel products on my computer. The latter is 4K and connected to a 32" 4K monitor. I previously had Painter 2019 and it had the same problem with fonts, menus, rulers, and tools all being so small as to be nearly useless. The computer runs Win 11 and is set to the recommended 150% zoom which seems to be sufficient for all but the Corel products. Corel PaintShop Pro was updated in version PSP 2019 to allow the User Interface to be increased in size, and this works fine. It has continued through to the current PSP 2023. Corel VideoStudio does not have this improvement. However, I can right click the VS icon on the monitor screen and select Properties > Compatibility. Down towards the bottom, there is a button 'Change high DPI settings'. And when that is pressed, I tick the box down at the bottom "Override high DPI scaling behaviour". And I select 'System' for 'Scaling performed by'. And I get decent sized fonts etc in VS when I open it.
You can try win+u to see display adjustments...
I use 150% on 27" 4K and seems OK....maybe try higher just for Painter?
In same dialog you can move text slider to higher %, apply (I use 130%)....works only for windows parts of Painter, not panels etc.
Thanks Doug. I had never looked at that dialog about text size, but I see what you mean. I am giving it a try, though my initial feeling is that it of course increases font size for all my many programs, not just Painter, yet Painter is the only one where I had any problem. The same could be said for your other suggestion of increasing the zoom higher just for Painter. Since all my other programs are acceptable at 150%, it would involve some mucking about to reset every time I used Painter.
Anyway, I will leave the Font size increased for a while and see if I get used to that before I try the increased zoom size for Painter.
I found it did not help much for Painter. But I often need for older (not updated) Photoshop plugin panels....where I switch Text size slider for the time I need it changed, then switch back as text changes are easy and quite fast.
Alternatively I sometimes use a simple handheld magnifying glass (yes real glass with plastic handle) to read a few very small screens not often used.
There are parts of Painter that are beyond old. Try using the key customization dialog on a high DPI display. Or use the handles on shapes. I occasionally wonder how far away we are from Painter just entirely collapsing under its own tech debt.
