  • PSD will not open in Painter 12 (64bit) - "There is not enough memory to complete this operation"

For an image I am retouching in Photoshop CS5 (64bit), I had the intention to work on it a bit in painter, and then return it Photoshop. It is a large PSD file (5000px plus lots of layers) and around 912mb when saved which was created (and opens) in Photoshop CS5 (64bit), I know it is a large file, but...
  • Little icons & memory fading

Tiny icons.... I looked in the enlarging icons thread and found no answer to how you can make the recent brushes used icons bigger A previous version offered a text list that would be preferable to the miniscule dots that are virtually useless - is showing text an option instead of the icons? Memory...

  • Re: Reasonable expectations of maximum brush size...

Doug B Computer specs? Yes, of course, I can't see the monitor without them. :-) Perhaps you ought to have a word with the surgeon that removed your cataracts :-)) - the machine tech specification being used is (and was) in the signature section of my post. Interesting though, (as you've edited...

  • Reasonable expectations of maximum brush size...

Hello everyone, it's my first post and one that may, perhaps, open a little debate in addition to discovering if anyone can replicate a few of my experiences with Painter 12. I've opened a 3433 x 2325 pixel (285Kb) jpeg image in Painter 12 and performed a Quick Clone. To put a final dab in the...

  • Insufficient Memory / Large File Dimensions

Hello all, I'm sure this issue has come up before, I recieve an 'Insufficient Memory' error when trying to open or create a very large image. Many files that open seamlessly in Photoshop are not even given a chance in Painter. Just wondering if there is a work-around or if anyone has contacted...

  • Thinking about upgrading my computer; is it worth it?

Hello! my first post here. I've been using Photoshop for quite some time, but working with it just isn't very intuitive for me, as I'm a traditionally schooled artist. Now, Painter is far from perfect either, but it's far closer to what I want from a digital painting application for sure...

  • Understanding Painter's memory settings

A common question we’re asked is to explain how to make the most of your system memory when using Painter. Well, to answer that question properly, you need a little background: When you create a canvas in Painter, all the information about how you created it has be stored somewhere (ex. the color...

  • Re: Painter 12 Leaking Memory?

After 6 hours of continuous usage my process for Painter 12 x64.exe now reads 5,012,388K. My memory usage setting in Preferences is 4095MB of 8191MB (50%). I'd expect that the process wouldn't consume more than that. Or am I misunderstanding how this setting is supposed to work? I also maintain...

  • Painter 12 Leaking Memory?

Memory utilization for P12 seems to continually increase and never decreases. I had P12 open for 8+ hours one day last week and at one point I found it was using more thant the 6GB of memory that had been set by default in the preferences. I noticed this when my computer went into swap and was thrashing...

  • not enough memory message??

I'm having trouble opening B&W drawings that I scanned @ 300dpi. Even the 150dpi scan gets the same message. I don't have problems when I open it at 72dpi though. The 72dpi image is too pixelated when I zoom in for detail work. Am I doing something wrong? I haven't had painter for a while...
